Rashmi is a self-taught artist, falling in love with pencil sketching as a child. When she decided to try painting some years ago, she started with acrylics, then moved on to oils and then watercolors-which she absolutely adores! She paints a wide variety of subjects created mostly from her imagination and at other times, in combination with reference photos. Artist Statement
Painting is to me what meditation is for others. Being self taught, I learn through trial and error and rigorous practice. I find the process of staying focused on a piece and bringing a blank canvas to life extremely therapeutic and rewarding!
It almost always starts with the colors I'm in the mood for and then my imagination takes over. There's a freedom in letting go and just being able to express myself through colors and shapes and scenes that start to unfold with each brushstroke, all leading to a unique composition every time. Oils and Watercolors are my preferred media.
Whether it's an abstract or a landscape, a still life or a floral, each painting is an extension of me, carrying a piece of my heart within. Hopefully the viewers can embark on this journey with me and explore their feelings with each creation. After all, that's the beauty of art...connecting people together!
